The title says it all…NED…No Evidence of Disease!
We arrived in Oxford and waited for ages to be seen…very unusual for them…..we were then taken to a room where “the doctor will join you shortly”…and waited again.
When the doctor walked in, I knew.
She seemed happy…cheerful…not weighed down by dreadful news that she had to tell.
“Let’s get it out of the way – your CT Scan was clear”
We were in the consultation room for ages…talking about frequency of CT scans, progression of Melanoma, my Melanoma statistics….and then we left….and did a happy dance along the corridor.
Well….I did a happy dance….The Mr tried but he has hurt his back climbing in and out of an Ugly Drum smoker (long and totally unconnected story!)….so he couldn’t really dance so much as slow shuffle….but his grinning face said it all!
I can breathe…..
The weight lifted off our shoulders is enormous. I get to fight another day…more….many, many more than that!
We stopped off in Bibury for lunch on route home at a pub that looked picture perfect with a lovely beer garden to sit in…exactly what the doctor called for…..somewhat surrounded by wasps and listening to some very loud woman babbling about her quest to get a gun licence because horses are too much hassle now.
Having been made to wait for 30 minutes before we could even order our food because the printer in the kitchen had run out of paper (?!?!?) our food arrived….I had a tasteless sandwich and the Mr had pizza…..he chose the pizza because it was called a Bibury Blaster…and it came in hot, very hot or crazy hot versions…..The Mr foolishly said to the barman that no English pub ever does anything hot enough & promptly ordered the crazy hot…..I think he was saved the painful torturous elements of heat because the chef burned his pizza (literally served him a burnt pizza) …and the replacement was not quite as scary hot…but also not even very appealing looking any longer since they appeared to have run out of cheese!
Did we care…..not two hoots!
Hoots being the right phrase….the Mr’s taste buds have yet to return having been scalded off by raw scotch bonnet chillies.
And so there you go – my day started with more butterflies and nerves than you can imagine & is drawing to an end with wasps and laughter!
NED is good….not just medically….but in terms of my plans….and the projects I am working on….I simply don’t have time to be poorly right now!
